My favorite thing about the Hawaiian Islands is the diversity of each. Which means you can have various experiences from one island to the next because they are all so different from each other.

What you pack in your carry-in for an overseas flight can be the difference between an easy flight or a difficult flight. It can also make a world of difference should the airline lose your luggage. Use this as a carry-on checklist. 



  • Eye mask – to block the light and hopefully help you get some sleep

  • Earplugs – to block sounds and hopefully help you get some sleep 

  • Travel pillow – for comfort and hopefully help you get some sleep

  • Headphones or earbuds – to connect to the plane’s entertainment system, your phone, your iPad, etc.

  • Scarf – to warm you up should you get a little chilly (light or heavy depending on the season)

  • Large water bottle – fill once you’ve passed through security -stay hydrated!

  • Toothpaste and toothbrush – to freshen up before you land

  • Small bottle of hairspray and comb/brush – to freshen up before you land

  • Small makeup case with makeup remover wipes – to freshen up before you land      Deodorant – not perfume!

  • Compression socks – to prevent swelling in your legs that can come from sitting for a long period of time

  • Entertainment: iPad, Kindle, book, or magazines – for some reason the plane’s entertainment system isn’t working

  • Passport and travel documents – required for international travel! 

  • Small travel journal and pen – to remember the details of your journey

  • Cash and credit cards – self-explanatory!

  • Medication – never put medication in your checked bag

  • Antibacterial wipes and hand sanitizer – sickness can ruin your trip

  • Tissues – sickness happens and so do spills]

  • Healthy, low-salt snacks – keep your salt intake to a minimum

  • Lip balm – airplanes can get very dry

  • Lotion – airplanes can get very dry

  • Facial moisturizer – airplanes can get very dry

  • 2 pairs of underwear and an extra shirt – loss of luggage happens!

  • Power cord(s) and phone charger – gotta stay charged and connected!
