I don't specialize in Disney Destinations because I took classes or studied books. It’s because I truly have a passion for Disney. I take my own personal vacations to Disney Destinations and have been to them 50+ times.

Are you thinking about building a droid or a lightsaber during your visit to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland but you’re concerned about how to get it home? Never fear, my Star Wars friend!

The Droid Depot will ship your new droid home for you so you don't have to worry about how you're going to get it home. Shipping is also available if you build a lightsaber at Savi's Workshop. And don't worry! If you want to play with and get photos with your new droid and/or lightsaber, you don't have to ship it home immediately after building it. You can bring it back to Galaxy's Edge at the end of the day (with the box and receipt!) and have them ship it home for you.

If you would like to keep your droid and/or lightsaber with you beyond the date is was built but would still like to ship it home, you’ll need to save the original boxes and receipts for the items. Then bring them to the Star Wars Trading Post at Downtown Disney for shipping.

Shipping is not available from the Disneyland Resort hotels (Disney's Grand Californian Resort & Spa, Disneyland Hotel, and Pixar Place).

Shipping costs will vary based on the shipping destination.

If you choose to bring your lightsaber on the plane with you, you will need to disassemble it and put it inside your luggage. If you choose to put your lightsaber in your checked bag, please be sure to remove the batteries and put those in your carry-on bag. The TSA website actually says, "Sadly, the technology doesn't currently exist to create a real lightsaber. However, you can pack a toy lightsaber in your carry-on or checked bag. May the force be with you." No lie! Google it for yourself!

The fully assembled lightsaber will measure about 43 inches in length, or just over a meter. I would recommend disassembling the component parts for your flight into a hilt and blade. The hilt may be stored with checked baggage (remove the batteries from the battery pack). The blade measures about 34.5 inches or just over 87 centimeters. It may be kept in the included carrying case and this will fit into an overhead compartment (with the hilt portion of the case folded over).

Droids can also be disassembled and put inside your checked luggage for the trip home. If you choose to put your droid in your checked bag, please be sure to remove the batteries and put those in your carry-on bag.
