I don't specialize in Disney Destinations because I took classes or studied books. It’s because I truly have a passion for Disney. I take my own personal vacations to Disney Destinations and have been to them 50+ times.

Disney+

Your Disney Parks vacation is booked and now the agonizing wait for your departure day begins. A fun way to pass the time and learn about some of the most beloved attractions at the Disney Parks is to check out the following programs that are currently streaming in Disney+.....

Disneyland & Walt Disney World: "Behind the Attraction" - This series is not only really interesting, it’s also pretty funny! Learn about The Jungle Cruise, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, The Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, The Castles, as well as the Disney resort hotels, forms of transportation, and THE FOOD!

  • Walt Disney World: "Magic of Disney's Animal Kingdom" – Get ready to fall in love with the individual animals and their care teams. You’ll quickly understand how this park is NâHTâZu! (sound it out and say that word out loud a few times – you’ll get it)

  • Disneyland & Walt Disney World: "One Day at Disney"

  • Disneyland & Walt Disney World: "Disney Insider"

  • Disneyland & Walt Disney World: "The Imagineering Story"

  • Disneyland & Walt Disney World: "Star Wars Galaxy's Edge: Adventure Awaits"

What about some great movies that come to life at Disneyland and Walt Disney World? And which came first: The movie or the attraction?

  • Pirates of the Caribbean - Movie series based on Walt Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean theme park attraction. The attraction opened in Disneyland in 1967 and at Walt Disney World in 1973. "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" starring Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow opened in theaters in 2003. The attraction definitely came first! This movie series should not be missed!

  • Haunted Mansion - Movie based on Walt Disney's Haunted Mansion theme park attraction. The attraction opened at Disneyland in 1969 and in Walt Disney World in 1973. “The Haunted Mansion” starring Eddie Murphy opened in theaters in 2003. The movie is good, but not great. A new movie was released in 2023 starring Jamie Lee Curtis, Jared Leto, and Owen Wilson but I'm sorry to say that the first movie was better.

  • Muppet's Haunted Mansion - Movie based on Walt Disney's Haunted Mansion theme park attraction. This movie was released in 2021 (so yes, clearly the attraction came first) and is a must for fans of the attraction and the Muppets themselves.

  • Jungle Cruise - Movie based on Walt Disney's Jungle Cruise theme park attraction. The attraction opened at Disneyland on the park’s opening day in 1955. It opened in Walt Disney World in 1971. “The Jungle Cruise” starring Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson opened in theaters in 2021. Once again, the attraction came first. Both the movie and the attraction are known for their eye-roll worthy bad jokes and puns – and thus should not be missed!

  • Pandora: The World of Avatar – Themed area based on James Cameron’s movie, “Avatar”. Pandora: The World of Avatar opened at Walt Disney World in 2017. The movie “Avatar” opened in theaters in 2009. So this time, the movie came first!

  • Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge – Themed area based on George Lucas’s epic franchise that needs no introduction. You most likely know the answer to this one already, but humor me. Star Wars IV: A New Hope opened in theaters in 1977. Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge opened at Disneyland in May 2019 and in Walt Disney World in August 2019. The movie came first!

Grab some popcorn, sit down with your family, and begin your Disney Parks education right at home!
