Walt Disney World, Florida ~ A Dreamer's Paradise

I don't specialize in Disney Destinations because I took classes or studied books. It’s because I truly have a passion for Disney. I take my own personal vacations to Disney Destinations and have been to them 50+ times.

Walt Disney World. A...

So you’ve decided to go to Walt Disney World! Your vacation package is booked and now it’s time to start thinking about the fun little details that are going to make your trip extra special. For those traveling in the autumn or during the holiday season, Walt Disney World offers seasonal parties on select dates such as Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. These parties require special event tickets that are an additional cost above and beyond the regular theme park ticket purchase. So I am often asked if these parties are worth the additional cost. And my answer is “YES!”…with one qualification. But just a few basics before we get into that…

What is it? These seasonal parties take place inside the Magic Kingdom. They feature a special parade, fireworks, decorations, stage shows, themed character greetings, and access to nearly all of the theme park’s regular attractions. During Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, guests are encouraged to wear costumes and go trick-or-treating around the park. During Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, don your Santa hat and enjoy unlimited cookies and cocoa. Since the party is capacity controlled, you’ll find that lines for the attractions are shorter, especially the later it gets. What is the cost? Party tickets for 2018 are roughly $100 per person. Prices can vary from one date to another.

These parties run from 7:00pm to Midnight. While you may be able to get into the Magic Kingdom as early as 4:00pm with your party ticket, some of the party’s major events such as parades and fireworks won’t happen until after 8:00pm. So if you’ve got a little one that needs to be in bed by 8:30pm, that doesn’t give you much time to enjoy the festivities. It might be best to wait until your children are a little older. This is really the only time I would say that it wouldn’t be worth it.

Beyond that, go and have fun! Be a kid again! Go trick-or-treating and wear a funny hat. Because it’s worth every penny when you make a new memory.
